South America – Top Five
Having returned from an adventurous trip to South America, I’ve decided to share with my friends the usual countdown of the Top 5 places I visited. Over the next few weeks I will share with you my pictures and stories…although nothing can do justice to the actual experience of being there in the flesh!
South America is indeed a land of extremes. During my short but very productive 3 weeks, I had the privilege of visiting:
– the world’s biggest and wildest New Year’s Eve celebrations
– the world’s largest waterfalls
– the world’s most beautiful bus ride
– the world’s driest place
– the world’s best place for stargazing
– the world’s largest salt flats
– the world’s highest capital
– the world’s most dangerous road
– the world’s highest lake
– the world’s most famous, spectacular and challening hiking trail
– the (new) world’s most ancient ruins
– and arguably, the world’s most beautiful city; certainly according to this Brazilian saying: “God created the world in six days, and on the seventh he created Rio.”
Stay tuned as I count down the top five among the following places:
– Rio de Janeiro & Foz du Igassu, Brazil
– Puerto Iguazu & Salta, Argentina
– San Pedro de Atacama, Chile
– Salar Uyuni & La Paz, Bolivia
– Cuzco, Machu Picchu and Lima, Peru
